Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Block-2, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003; has invited online applications from Indian citizens for filling up of 10 Permanent posts of Scientist 'C, a Group 'A' Gazetted Post (Scientific) with Pay Matrix Level-11 (7th CPC), on a direct recruitment basis.

There are 10 vacancies [UR-04, OBC(NCL)-03, SC-01, ST-01. EWS-01]. Of these, one post is reserved for PwBD (D, HH). The number of posts to be filled may vary.

The selected candidates appointed as Scientists shall be liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad as and when required in the interest of the Department.

Age limits: The upper age limit for direct recruits shall be 35 years. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates. Relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC/ Persons with Benchmark Disabilities shall be in accordance with orders issued by the Central Government from time to time. The Relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST candidates shall be 5 years; for OBC candidates, it shall be 3 years; for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates, it shall be 10 years.

Educational qualification: Applicant should hold Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in any discipline of Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Computational/Pharmaceutical/Agricultural/Veterinary Sciences or related disciplines; or PhD in Engineering/Technology –Chemical/Biomedical/ Biotechnology/Biopharma; or a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in any branch of medicine from a recognised University or Institute. Experience is not required.

The selection will be a two-stage process consisting of a computer-based written examination, followed by a personal interview of the shortlisted candidates, based on the merit in the written examination.
