
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Trombay, Mumbai-400 085 has invited for positions of Research Associate (RA) Fellowship to work on various R&D projects of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.
The Projects and the details of eligibility and other conditions are as follows.
Research Project No. 1: Indigenous Scalable Quantum Computing Technology (2 positions of RA); Qualification: Ph.D. in Quantum Computing; or Metal-Insulator thin films/Interfaces; or Microwave Electronics. Field of work: Quantum Technology; Nature of work: Development of Quantum computing device at superconducting platform. The work involves quantum simulation, lab development, nano-fabrication and measurements using microwave instruments at low temperatures. Duration of project: Up to 30.06.2027.
Research Project No. 2.1: Development of Niobium Quarter Wave Resonator, ECRIS upgrade and Utilisation, Production Target for RIBs and Precision Reactor Neutrino Studies using enhanced ISMRAN Setup. (1 position); Qualification- Ph.D. in Physics in areas related to accelerator development or Experimental Nuclear Physics. Field of work Radioactive ion beam (RIB) production and extraction; Nature of work - Development of RIB Production target, ion source and low energy beam line; Duration of project- Up to 31.12.2027 or maximum three years, whichever is earlier.

Research Project No. 3: Accelerator & Reactor Based Nuclear Physics Research (5 positions)- Qualification: Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics; Field of work: Experimental nuclear physics; Nature of work: Development and utilization of new detectors and experimental facilities for low energy experimental nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics; Duration of project: Up to 31.01.2028 or maximum three years, whichever is earlier
Research Project No. 4: On-demand clean hydrogen generation from boron-based hydrides at room temperature with supramolecularly-functionalized hybrid metal/alloy nanocomposites (1 position); Qualification: Ph.D. Chemistry; Field of work: Research in Chemical Sciences; Nature of work: Host-guest complexation, Spectroscopic measurements, Nanoparticle synthesis, Hydrogen generation; Duration of project: Up to 30.11.2025.
Level of Fellowship is RA-I / RA-II / RA-III except for Research Project No. 4 for which it is RA-I.
Amount of Fellowship
(i) RA-I: Rs. 58,000/- p.m. plus Contingency Grant of Rs. 60,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable. (ii) RA-II: Rs. 61,000/- p.m. plus Contingency Grant of Rs. 60,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable. (iii) RA-III: Rs. 67,000/- p.m. plus Contingency Grant of Rs. 60,000/- per annum plus HRA as applicable. The Research Associates will be fixed at one of the 3 fellowship as indicated above depending on qualifications and experience. The level at which a fellow will be placed will be decided by the interview committee based on (i) Quality of Ph.D. thesis (ii) Post-Ph.D. research experience as evidenced from the quality of the publications and/or products/processes designed and developed and (iii) Performance in the Selection interview.
The Fellows recruited will have the opportunity to carry out research under various R&D projects of BARC under the guidance of senior scientists.
