Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala has invited applications for the Ph.D Entrance Examination 2024 (Written Aptitude Test ) for determining eligibility for admission to Full-time/Part-time research leading to Ph.D Degree. 

Eligibility: Applicant shall have passed a Post Graduate Degree examination in any discipline of Mahatma Gandhi University or of any other Universities recognised as eligible thereto, with not less than 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled categories and those who have obtained their Post Graduate Degree prior to 19th September, 1991) or an equivalent grade or a Postgraduate Degree or an equivalent Professional Degree satisfying the condition detailed above from a foreign educational institution which is accredited by authorised agencies. 

Exemption: Exemption from Entrance Test is given to JRF Awardees, UGC Teacher Fellows, M.Phil. & M.Tech. (all discipline), MD, MS, MDS (Modern Medicine, Homoeopathy and Ayurveda) Degree holders in the subject of research concerned, Regular and permanent teachers from the University Departments and Government/ Aided Colleges in Kerala, those who have qualified in the NET/ SLET/ GATE/ GPAT/ JEST/ RGNF or other tests conducted by such Government bodies as UGC, CSIR, ICAR/ ICMR, DST Women Scientist, Awardees KSCST/INSPIRE/MANF Fellowship Awardees, Scientists from the Accredited R & D Institutions, Teachers of Self-Financing Colleges under the control of Government, with at least three years of continuous service and are working at the time of doctoral committee, Teachers of Self-Financing Colleges affiliated to MGU, with at least three years of service and are working at the time of doctoral committee.

Scheme of the Test: The general aptitude test will be of three hours duration and will carry a maximum of 100 marks. Entrance tests will be conducted at the Centre(s) as per the dates notified and changes of centers/dates, if any, shall also be notified through the portal. The test comprises two papers – Part A - Subject chosen and Part B – Research Methodology. Pass requirement is minimum 50% marks for all categories except SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled whose pass requirement is 45%. The validity of the results of the candidates of the Ph.D Entrance Test will be two successive chances from the date of publication of the Test results.

Entrance Examination will be held on 17.05.2024 & 18.05.2024. Centres for the Entrance Examination are (i) University College, M.G Road, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram (ii) CMS College, Kottayam (iii) Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara (iv) Government Vocational HSS for Girls, Nadakkavu, Kozhikode (v) Sree Narayana College, Thottada, Kannur.

Application fee is Rs. 1,225/-. For SC/ST candidates, the fee for application is Rs. 610/-. Fee shall be remitted online.
