Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Indian Institute of Spices Research (ICAR-IISR), Marikunnu PO, Kozhikode, Kerala -673 012, has invited applications from Indian citizens, to pursue research in various disciplines leading to a Ph.D., Degree under University of Calicut.

Subject areas available for PhD and available positions are as follows: (i) Botany (6 positions) (ii) Biotechnology (01) (iii) Biochemistry (03) (iv) Chemistry (01).

Reservation: Category-wise vacancies are as follows: OC-4; Ezhava-1; SC-3; PWD-2; EWS-1

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a Master’s degree in Botany/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Chemistry and a valid national level fellowship (JRF of CSIR, UGC, DBT, etc.), or any other equivalent fellowship (KSCSTE, etc.,) for pursuing Ph.D.

Irrespective of the fellowship awarded, all applicants must have a valid UGC-NET score.

Upper age limit is 35 years for males and 40 years for females as on 30.08.2025. Age relaxation will be as per the Govt. of India rule applicable to SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Selection: Eligible candidates will be called for an interview before the Selection Committee details of which will be intimated after deadline.

Selection of Ph.D. scholars is based on the performance in the interview subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria. Applicants will have to make their own arrangements for travel, stay, etc. for attending the interview. Travelling allowance is not payable by ICAR-IISR, Kozhikode.
