Is iPhone 17 getting a 5000 mAh battery? Datasheet leak reveals surprises ahead of launch
Apple is set to unveil its iPhone 17 series in Cupertino, California, on Tuesday, and leaks indicate the iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature a substantial 5,000 mAh battery, according to Apple Insider, citing images shared by leaker @Jukanlosreve on X.
The new series is expected to bring upgrades in display, camera, RAM, and video capabilities, alongside a slimmer iPhone Air variant replacing the Plus model.
Will Apple offer a massive battery for iPhone 17?
A leaked datasheet, reportedly from a South Korean mobile carrier, details battery capacities for all four iPhone 17 models. While Apple typically does not disclose such figures, the document lists the following:
- iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh
- iPhone 17 Air: 3,036 mAh / 3,149 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro: 3,988 mAh / 4,252 mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 4,823 mAh / 5,088 mAh
Earlier, several media reports on iPhone 17 Pro Max leaks suggested that Apple is focusing on enhancing battery health, an area that has faced criticism from users for several years.

The variations in battery capacity likely reflect different model numbers, with smaller batteries possibly corresponding to iPhones sold in China, which still have physical SIM slots instead of eSIM-only designs.
Display, RAM, and camera upgrades
The iPhone 17 series will reportedly feature larger screens compared to its predecessors:
- iPhone 17: 6.3-inch display (up from 6.1-inch)
- iPhone 17 Air: 6.6-inch display, slim 5.5 mm design
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.3-inch display
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.9-inch display

RAM upgrades will enable enhanced AI features. The iPhone 17 and 17 Air are expected to offer 8 GB, while the Pro and Pro Max models could feature 12 GB of RAM, paired with Apple’s A19 Pro chip in the higher-end variants.
Camera enhancements include the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max potentially supporting 8K video recording for the first time, with a new 48-megapixel telephoto sensor offering improved zoom capabilities up to 10x at native 12-megapixel resolution.
If the leaks are accurate, the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 5,000 mAh battery would mark a significant leap in Apple’s battery capacities, offering longer usage times compared to previous models. The slim iPhone 17 Air, despite its thin 5.5 mm profile, might still pack a 3,036–3,149 mAh battery.
