Fortnite arrives on Xbox PC app on Tomorrow | What it means for players

Xbox has been busy expanding its ecosystem, from launching cloud gaming in India to adding new Game Pass titles. Now, Microsoft is bringing Fortnite, one of the world’s biggest free-to-play games, to the Xbox PC app on November 18. Until now, PC players had to use the Epic Games Launcher, but that monopoly ends with this update.
Install and play Fortnite directly from Xbox PC app
Starting November 18, players can install, launch, and update Fortnite directly from the Xbox PC app — no Epic Games Launcher required. The game integrates with Xbox network features, syncing friends lists, achievements, social activity, and play logs automatically. For players within the Xbox ecosystem, this provides a seamless experience across devices.
Supports Xbox Play Anywhere
Fortnite will also join the Xbox Play Anywhere programme. This means all progress — skins, V-Bucks, battle pass levels, locker items — carries across:
- Xbox consoles
- Windows PCs
- Supported handheld devices like ASUS ROG Ally and Ally X
Players can log in anywhere and continue their Fortnite progress instantly.
Game Pass Ultimate members get Fortnite Crew
From November 18, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will automatically receive the Fortnite Crew subscription, which includes:
- A new monthly skin
- 1,000 V-Bucks every month
- Access to the current battle pass
This normally paid subscription is now a perk for Ultimate members, adding strong value and encouraging players to opt for Microsoft’s top-tier plan.
How to download Fortnite via Xbox PC app
- Open the Xbox app on your PC
- Search for Fortnite
- Click Install
- Log in with your Epic Games account
Your progress and purchases sync automatically, and updates will be managed through the Xbox app. Game Pass Ultimate members will see their Crew benefits immediately.
A strategic, well-timed move
Fortnite’s arrival on the Xbox PC app follows the launch of Xbox Cloud Gaming in India, which allows streaming of supported titles across phones, tablets, PCs, and select smart TVs. While Fortnite isn’t part of cloud gaming yet, the integration into Xbox’s ecosystem positions Microsoft for a unified gaming experience across multiple devices.
Bringing Fortnite to the Xbox PC app is more than a new download option — it’s a step in Microsoft’s strategy to make Xbox a cohesive ecosystem. Play Anywhere support, Game Pass perks, and PC integration make Fortnite easier to access than ever, while the expansion of Xbox Cloud Gaming signals a future where your device matters less than your Xbox account.
