Vienna: An Air India Dreamliner operating flight AI103 from Delhi to Washington, D.C., was cancelled in Vienna on Wednesday after an "extended maintenance task" was identified during a routine fuel stop. The incident stranded numerous passengers in the Austrian capital and has led to the cancellation of the corresponding return flight, AI104, from Washington, D.C. to Delhi via Vienna.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which departed from Delhi, made its scheduled technical halt at Vienna International Airport on July 2. During standard pre-departure checks, a maintenance issue arose that required significant attention and additional time, prompting the airline to cancel the onward journey to Washington. All passengers were disembarked in Vienna.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed the development, stating that affected passengers are being rebooked on alternative flights to their destinations or provided with full refunds, based on their preferences.
