Kalpetta: Vishukaineettam, the money given to children by elders, an important ritual of Vishu, by the postal department is facing glitches in distribution. The department had set up services to send Rs 100, 200, 500 as ‘Vishukaineettam’ and announced that the money will be received till April 9. Many people reached post offices and paid the money after filling the required forms. The official had informed them that the money will be sent in covers with attractive images related to Vishu.

It was decided to dispense the ‘Vishukaineettam’ on April 11, 12 and 13. The department planned to organise the applications at the nodal office in Thiruvananthapuram and distribute through post offices. However, there was a delay in receiving the details of applicants at post offices. April 14 and 15 are holidays due to Maundy Thursday and Vishu respectively. Hence, the department will not be able to dispense ‘Kaineettam’ before Vishu. Many people reached post offices and raised complaints.

The staff at post offices are also helpless without any accurate information regarding Vishukaineettam'.
