Kollam, Kerala: Amid ongoing debates and criticism on his absence, actor-turned-politician Mukesh arrived at the CPM state conference venue on the third day on Saturday.

When asked about his absence despite the state conference taking place in his own constituency, Kollam MLA initially responded with sarcasm and criticism towards the media.

“I was away for two days due to work-related travel, taking advantage of the time when the Assembly was not in session. I informed the party before leaving. I sincerely thank you all for your concern. It’s heartening to see such attention whenever I travel in and out of Kollam,” Mukesh remarked.

“This morning, someone from London called me, asking if I was attending the branch meeting. When I inquired who it was, they said they were the branch secretary from Pooyappally. When I asked why he was in London, he said it was for work. I told them I was also away for work and would be attending the conference today,” he added.

Mukesh stated that the discussions over his absence stemmed from a lack of understanding about the nature of the conference.

“Only party-appointed representatives attend the conference. Since I am not a representative, there were limitations on my attendance,” he explained.

However, he emphasized that he had participated in various events related to the conference, including the logo unveiling and a kabadi match.
