Mansoor murder case: 2 more persons nabbed; 4 taken into custody so far

Kannur: Two more persons have been taken into custody in connection with the murder of Muslim League worker Mansoor in Panoor here. With this, the probe team nabbed four persons in connection with the case. Their arrest will be recorded on Saturday.
Those who are in the custody of the police are CPM local leaders and party workers. The probe team headed by the DYSP recorded the statement of Mansoor’s relatives, witnesses and the injured.
The accused include 11 identified people and 14 unidentified ones. The identified accused include Shinos, Ratheesh, Sangeeth, Sreerag, Sajeevan, Suhail, Ashwanth, Shashi, Sumesh, Jabir and Naseer. All of them are CPM and DYFI workers.
According to the FIR, the accused hurled the bomb with an intention to murder the victim. Meanwhile, the second accused Ratheesh was found hanging on Friday evening. A
15-member team headed by District Crime Branch assistant commissioner K Ismail is investigating into the case.
The locals have handed over to the police a mobile phone which was recovered from the crime spot. This phone was sent for detailed examination to the forensic lab, City Police Commissioner R Ilanko told Mathrubhumi. It is learnt that the phone is of key accused Shinos. The police are trying to recover the deleted messages from the phone.
