Palakkad: Human Rights Commission has filed a case concerning the death of a geriatric after getting hit by a KSRTC bus in Kannanoor here. The commission has directed the district police chief and transport officer to submit a detailed inquiry report within 15 days.

Chella, an 80-year-old woman, died on Wednesday after a KSRTC bus ran over her while crossing the road at Kannanoor junction. She was crossing the road through the zebra cross when the accident happened.

The bus didn't stop despite hitting her. It was also found that the bus violated the traffic signal, and this led to the accident. The commission pointed out that there was a serious lapse on the part of the driver.
