Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary M V Govindan has rejected the stance taken by senior leader A Padmakumar from Pathanamthitta, who expressed dissatisfaction with his exclusion from the state committee during the recently held state conference in Kollam. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Govindan stated that it was inappropriate to publicly discuss matters that should have been addressed within the party and the organisation. He emphasised that the party would take strong action against such practices and would move forward.

Regarding the question of why senior leader P Jayarajan was not considered for the State Secretariat, Govindan responded that if anyone is unconvinced of the reasons, the party would make them convinced.

Govindan said that the party would conduct the necessary investigation regarding Padmakumar's public protest, but emphasised that the investigation would not be in his favour. He said that it was organisationally unacceptable to express one’s opinion in public when things could be discussed within the party and organisation. Those who adopted this stance would face organisational consequences, whoever they are.

“While identifying new leaders from various areas, the party plans to build a structure of collective leadership consisting of both old and new leaders. This is something the party had already clarified. When such a structure is formed, the priority before the party is merit and value,” he said. “It would be a difficult task to make each person convinced about the decision taken by the party. What is desirable in this situation is to understand the situation collectively,” Govindan said.

In response to the question about why senior leader P Jayarajan was not considered for the State Secretariat, Govindan didn’t mince his words and categorically emphasised the party's position, leaving no space for further discussion regarding the situation. “The party has a clear understanding about the situation. We do not take positions based on each individual. If anyone is not convinced about the decision, the party will make them convinced,” he said.
