Bengaluru weather update: Rain likely, minimum temperature to drop

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a cold wave across multiple districts of Karnataka, warning of falling temperatures, dense fog and rainfall in parts of the state, including the capital Bengaluru. According to the IMD, weather conditions are expected to remain adverse for the next few days, particularly in northern Karnataka.

Districts likely to experience cold wave conditions include Bidar, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Raichur, Yadgir, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Bellary and Vijayanagar. These areas are also expected to witness dense fog during the early morning and evening hours, reducing visibility and causing inconvenience to commuters.

In Bengaluru and surrounding districts such as Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara and Chikkaballapur, the IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall over the coming days. Continuous rain is likely to bring down minimum temperatures by two to three degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Bengaluru is expected to hover around 25 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may drop to about 14 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies and gentle breezes are also forecast for the city.

The weather department has cautioned that sustained rainfall could lead to waterlogging in low-lying and busy areas, potentially disrupting traffic movement. Residents have been advised to follow official advisories and limit unnecessary travel, especially during foggy hours.

The IMD has added that temperatures across the state are expected to rise gradually after January 15. Meanwhile, fishermen in coastal Karnataka have been advised to stay away from water bodies and avoid marine activities due to unfavourable weather conditions.
