Kapil Sharma café shooting: Delhi Police arrest alleged handler of Goldy Dhillon gang

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Friday arrested gangster Bandhu Man Singh, alleged India–Canada-based handler of the Goldy Dhillon gang, in Ludhiana in connection with a conspiracy to fire at actor–comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada.
According to police, Man Singh, who faces multiple criminal cases, has been linked to a cache of weapons previously recovered by the Crime Branch. Officers seized a Chinese-made pistol and several cartridges from him at the time of arrest.
Investigators believe he supplied weapons and vehicles used by the shooters involved in the recent attacks on Sharma’s café. After returning to India, he was allegedly attempting to rebuild the Goldy Dhillon gang’s network and was reportedly arranging the procurement of sophisticated firearms for future attacks. Police also suspect that the vehicle used in the latest shooting was registered in his name.
The Crime Branch is now probing the wider international links of the gang, intensifying investigations into its arms supply chain, sources of funding and alleged target lists.
Series of attacks on Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada
The case follows a series of shootings targeting Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada. In October, the Surrey Police Service launched an investigation after shots were fired at the outlet, Kap’s Café, on 85 Avenue and 120 Street at around 3.45 am, according to City News Vancouver.
Kulvir Sidhu, said to be linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s network, later claimed responsibility in a viral social media post. “Today’s firing at Caps Café, Surrey, was carried out by me, Kulvir Sidhu, and Goldy Dhillon… Bollywood individuals who speak against our religion should also be prepared; bullets can come from anywhere,” the post read.
This was the third shooting incident targeting the café since July, with earlier attacks reported on July 10 and August 8. Police in India and Canada continue to investigate possible cross-border gang involvement.
