Monsoon delay threatens Kharif season in Western Rajasthan as farmers await rain
Farmers across Western Rajasthan are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the monsoon as delays threaten the beginning of the Kharif sowing season. In districts such as Jaisalmer, many farmers have already prepared their fields and purchased seeds, expecting timely rainfall to start cultivation.
However, with monsoon rains yet to arrive, sowing activities have been postponed, raising concerns about crop losses and lower agricultural output. The situation has become more difficult due to soaring temperatures and frequent dust storms across the region, increasing fears of severe damage to farmland.
Agricultural experts have advised farmers not to rush into sowing Kharif crops despite the delay. Instead, they recommend waiting until mid-July, when rainfall is expected to reach Western Rajasthan.
