Composer-singer Sai Abhyankkar is currently enjoying a surge in popularity, thanks to his energetic singles and collaborations with leading stars in the film industry. However, he recently encountered an unexpected turning point in his career when he was approached to compose music for the upcoming film Karuppu, stepping in after A. R. Rahman exited the project for undisclosed reasons.

In a recent interaction with The Hollywood Reporter India, Sai revealed that he was initially unaware of Rahman’s involvement in the film. The opportunity came as a surprise when director RJ Balaji and the team reached out to him. “I was shocked (surprised) when I heard I would be working on Suriya sir’s film,” he shared, adding that he later realised Rahman had originally been attached to the project. Despite his curiosity about the change, Sai chose to focus on delivering his best, viewing it as both a responsibility and an opportunity to prove himself.
