Mohanlal is all set for the release of ‘Barroz’, one of the most anticipated films of his career. The fantasy drama, marking his directorial debut, has created significant buzz, with fans eager to see the actor in a fresh role. In a recent interview, Mohanlal shared an interesting behind-the-scenes moment from the film's production, revealing that he had initially reached out to Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer to compose the music for ‘Barroz’.

The Malayalam film is expected to be a game-changer for the industry, with Mohanlal portraying the role of a guardian tasked with protecting a treasure. Despite his best efforts to make the film a grand spectacle, things didn’t go as planned when it came to securing Zimmer's involvement. The Lion King composer, known for his iconic scores in Hollywood films, responded to Mohanlal’s request with a polite but disappointing answer: he "didn’t have much time" to take on the project.

Mohanlal recounted the exchange in an interview with Galatta Plus, revealing that he had written a letter to Zimmer, asking if he could compose the music for his directorial venture. However, Zimmer’s busy schedule meant he couldn’t commit to the project. “I wrote a letter to Hans Zimmer and asked him if he could do this film. He replied that he didn’t have much time.” Despite the setback, Mohanlal mentioned that Zimmer’s musical team still contributed to the film's soundtrack. “Eventually, some of Hans Zimmer’s musical players are playing in this film,” he added.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor, ‘Barroz’ will hit theaters on December 25. In addition to ‘Barroz’, Mohanlal has several other major projects lined up. He is set to appear in the Telugu drama ‘Kannappa’, starring Vishnu Manchu, and the much-awaited sequel ‘L2’, following the success of his 2019 blockbuster ‘Lucifer’.
