Has Jason Sanjay dropped father Vijay's name amid parents' divorce rumours?

Chennai: The buzz surrounding Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, has taken a dramatic turn as he prepares for his directorial debut, Sigma. In a move that has sent shockwaves through the industry and fan circles, the young filmmaker has reportedly decided to distance himself from his father’s name in the film’s official credits.
According to reports, Jason Sanjay has opted to credit himself as “Jason Sanjay S.” in the upcoming action-adventure comedy. The "S" is widely believed to stand for his mother, Sangeetha Sornalingam.
This change comes at a time when Jason has reportedly unfollowed his father on Instagram, a move that many see as a public confirmation of a deep-seated family rift.
Family turmoil and divorce rumours
The timing of Jason's decision is particularly sensitive given the intense speculation surrounding Vijay and Sangeetha’s marriage. After nearly 27 years together, reports suggest the couple is heading for a divorce.
Previous reports claimed that Sangeetha filed a petition citing Vijay's alleged involvement with a prominent actress as the cause of their domestic distance.
Rumors were further fueled when Vijay was spotted attending a wedding with actress Trisha Krishnan. While paparazzi have pressed Trisha for comments at airports and public events, the actress has maintained a strict "no comment" stance.
