‘I asked him, ‘Is this how you sell a film to me?’ He thought it would work with me’: Shraddha

Shraddha Srinath is a name to reckon with in the South Indian film industry, known for her work in notable films including Jersey, Nerkonda Paarvai, Irugapatru, and U Turn.
The ace actor’s latest web series, The Game: You Never Play Alone, is currently streaming on Netflix.
However, what has truly caught the attention of cinephiles now is Shraddha’s candid revelations about her life and filmography in a conversation with Sudhir Srinivasan on his YouTube channel.
In an almost hour-long interview, the actor spoke about her choice of roles, how filmmakers approach her, social media, women, society, and much more—offering insight into the thoughtful and deep person that she is.
Shraddha, who has consistently acted in films with strong content, shed light on how filmmakers approach her.
“You know, once there was this director who came up to me and said, ‘Ma’am, I’m sorry, there are two heroes in this film—one is [a male actor]… and the other one is you,’” she chuckled, recalling the incident.
Talking further, she added:
“Then I asked him, ‘Okay, this is how you sell a film to me?’ He thought it would work with me.”
Shraddha Srinath’s revelation shed light on the complexities—and the humor—behind choosing scripts that could eventually become career-defining for actors.
She told Sudhir Srinivasan that she was rather impressed by the director’s approach, saying it made her realise how she was being viewed in the industry. She added that the way he chose to pitch the film to her was “rather cute.”
Shraddha later went on to do a different film with the same director. The actor continues to tread her own distinct path in the industry with bold choices and creative collaborations.
