Kochi: The actors’ association ‘AMMA’ has issued a show-cause notice to actress Ansiba Hassan, alleging that her public statements have damaged the organisation’s reputation. The notice seeks an explanation for her remarks and sets a deadline of June 17.

According to the notice, Ansiba’s allegations have adversely affected the functioning of the organisation. It warns that disciplinary action may be taken if her response is found unsatisfactory. A written explanation has been requested by the stipulated date.

The association further stated that the matter could have been resolved internally, but instead was brought into the public domain, thereby harming its image. It also alleged that an office bearer, bound by the organisation’s bylaws, made accusations outside the internal framework instead of addressing the issue within AMMA.

The controversy surfaced shortly after Ansiba resigned from her position as Joint Secretary. Although she cited personal reasons for her resignation at the time, she later levelled serious allegations against actor Tini Tom. She accused him of calling her a “jihadist” and spreading rumours about an alleged illicit relationship.

Subsequently, internal differences within the governing body over the sponsorship of AMMA’s family gathering also became public, further intensifying the dispute.
