Actor and director Joju George has addressed the recent controversy surrounding threats made to a reviewer who criticised his film Pani. The reviewer, Adarsh, claimed that he received a threatening phone call from Joju after he shared his negative review.

In a live video posted online, Joju explained, "I have something very important to say. That’s why I have come on live at night. A phone call is circulating in my name claiming that I threatened a person. I did make the call. Please understand what I’m saying in a good way. There have been many negative reviews, but I haven’t contacted any of those reviewers. It’s all about freedom of speech.

However, this person has shared one particular review in several places and spread it in many groups. Under the comments of various posts, he has written, 'Don't watch this movie.' I didn’t call him to discuss freedom of speech. Sharing the same review in multiple places has an obvious intent.

Reviewers should not spoil movies. He wrote about important plot points, and I am angry about that. While this may seem like a pastime, it’s also a serious issue affecting the livelihood of many. I will proceed legally.

I have many enemies-those who do not like me or care about me. This can all be addressed in person. However, the film is not just mine," said Joju

A reviewer named Adarsh shared the negative comments of the movie. He also posted an audio recording of his conversation with Joju, claiming that Joju threatened him during the call. Adarsh stated that he is sharing the audio on Facebook to ensure that Joju does not intimidate anyone else in the future.
