How to apply for PAN 2.0

The Income Tax Department has launched a new version of the PAN card called PAN 2.0. This new version is designed to make the process of applying for or updating your PAN smoother, more secure, and more convenient. This article will provide a step by step guide for the same process.

What’s new in PAN 2.0?

  • e-PAN with QR code: Now, you can get your PAN card digitally (called e-PAN), and it comes with a QR code for better security and quicker verification.

  • Convenience: Digital delivery avoids postal delays

  • Affordability: Minimal charges for additional request and physical copies

  • Fee updates: Users can update their details free of charge.

Steps to apply for e-PAN

Before starting, check if your PAN was issued by NSDL or UTIITSL. You’ll find this info on the back of your PAN card.

Steps to apply for e-PAN via UTILTSL

  1. Visit the UTIITSL e-PAN portal – https://www.pan.utiitsl.com

  2. Enter your PAN, date of birth, and captcha code.

  3. If your email is not registered, you need to update it under PAN 2.0 once the project officially launches.

  4. You can get e-PANs free of cost

  5. You can receive your PAN via email in a PDF format.

Steps to your PAN from NSDL:

  1. Visit: NSDL e-PAN Portal

  2. Enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and date of birth.

  3. Check your details and choose how you want to receive the OTP (One-Time Password).

  4. Enter the OTP within 10 minutes.

  5. For the first three requests within 30 days, the e-PAN is free. After that, pay Rs. 8.26.

  6. Once done, your e-PAN will be emailed to you within 30 minutes.
