The Magic of Water Lilies: A Visual Treat from Kollad, Kottayam

Kottayam: As dawn approaches, a few early risers gather to capture the beauty of Kollad in Kottayam, where water lilies are in full bloom.
Just 7 kilometers from Kottayam, this 200-acre paddy land becomes a stunning spectacle. Visitors are warmly welcomed by K.G. Anil, a farmer, and his wife Sindhu. The couple has graciously opened their home for tourists to freshen up, charging no fees and finding joy in the company of visitors.
Anil offers a small boat ride, navigating through the shallow waters to showcase the enchanting water lilies.
This field, normally used for rice cultivation, is filled with water after the harvest to prepare for the next season. Anil explains that the flowers bloom in the July-August season, with the first blooms appearing over five years ago. He believes the water lilies originated from the droppings of migratory birds.
