Kochi: In a shocking incident, a moving KSRTC low-floor bus caught fire on Chittoor Road in Ernakulam on Monday.
The bus, heading toward Thodupuzha, had 21 passengers on board. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. The fire reportedly started from the rear part of the bus. A bike rider spotted the fire and alerted the driver.
Although local residents attempted to extinguish the flames, they were unsuccessful. Subsequently, two units of the fire department arrived from Kadavanthra and were able to douse the fire.
The effort to control the fire took up to half an hour. The preliminary assessment suggests that a short circuit may have caused the accident.
