Vandiperiyar (Idukki, Kerala):The district administration has imposed prohibitory orders in Vandiperiyar’s Gramby residential area after a tiger was spotted in the region. The restrictions will remain in effect from 6 am to 6 pm on Sunday in Ward 15 of Vandiperiyar Grama Panchayat.
Officials said that the decision was taken to prevent any human-wildlife conflict, as the presence of people near the tiger could provoke aggression. Residents have been advised to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement in the affected area.
Forest department plans capture and treatment
Meanwhile, efforts to capture the tiger are underway. The forest department has planned to tranquilise the animal and relocate to Thekkady.
According to the Erumeli Range Forest Officer, the tiger appears to be suffering from health issues, including leg injury. If captured, it will be provided with necessary medical treatment.
