Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko reportedly fled from a hotel room in Kochi late on Wednesday night, evading a surprise police drug inspection by escaping through a window. The incident occurred around 11 pm during a targeted operation by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF).

Chacko had been under police surveillance for the past five days, according to officers, due to his alleged involvement in drug-related controversies.

Escape caught on CCTV

The DANSAF team had received a tip-off about suspected drug use in Chacko’s hotel room. By the time police reached the spot, he had already jumped from the second floor into a swimming pool, exited through the emergency staircase, and walked out via the hotel lobby. CCTV footage of the escape has since emerged.

Timeline of events

Police said Chacko checked into the hotel at approximately 5.30 am on Wednesday. A female friend arrived later and booked a separate room. That evening, friends of both individuals visited the premises.

Later that night, based on intelligence received under Operation D-Hunt, the DANSAF team arrived for inspection, but found the actor had already fled the scene.

Woman taken for questioning

No narcotics were recovered from the room. However, the woman who had accompanied Chacko was taken in for detailed questioning by the authorities.

Linked to earlier complaint by actress

The actor has previously been accused by actress Vincy Aloshious of drug use and inappropriate behaviour during the filming of Sutravaakyam. She initially made the allegations public on social media and later submitted a formal complaint to the actors’ association AMMA.
