Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam film 'Chiram', starring Anoop Menon and Aishwarya Mithun Koroth in lead roles, was mentioned in the Kerala Legislative Assembly after MLA Fathima Thahiliya watched the film at a special screening organised for legislators.

The MLA referred to the film during the question hour in the Assembly. A special screening of 'Chiram' was held recently at Aries Plex theatre in Thiruvananthapuram for elected representatives.

Several legislators, including TK Govindan, TK Praveen, Vidya Balakrishnan, Xavier Chittilappilly, Manoj Moothedan and NK Akbar, attended the screening following the Assembly proceedings.

Blending romance, travel and Baul music, the film was shot across locations in Kolkata and Kerala. Directed by Sindhu Paradayil and N Sudheer, 'Chiram' is produced by Sathyajith Nair under the banner of Sathyajith Productions.

Following the screening, legislators emphasised the importance of taking the film to younger audiences, particularly students, and using it to raise awareness about the environment and communities living in different regions.

They suggested organising screenings for young people and those involved in environmental initiatives, noting that the film offers an opportunity to introduce audiences to places and communities that often remain unfamiliar to the wider public.

Director Sindhu Paradayil said the film was inspired by the experiences of a teacher working in a tribal region.

The film's music has also received appreciation from audiences. M Jayachandran and Girish Narayanan have composed the music, while a Hindi song performed by the Nandagovindam team has attracted particular praise.

Filmed across Kolkata, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Kerala, 'Chiram' has entered its second week in theatres, drawing attention for its exploration of love, travel, music and the environment.
