An IIT graduate has come up with a quirky AI-powered tool to check the roundness of rotis, and it has gone viral on social media.
Animesh Chouhan, a graduate from IIT Kharagpur, introduced RotiChecker.ai after responding to a post on Twitter (now X), where a user shared a picture of her almost-perfectly round roti, calling it an art.
Chouhan used his AI tool to analyse the roti, giving it a “roundness score” of 91 out of 100. As a joke, he promised that if his post got 420 likes, he would make the tool public.
The post quickly went viral, surpassing his expectations with nearly 7,000 likes and more than 4.5 lakh views.
In addition to the score, Chouhan shared a meme suggesting that a roti with a 91 “roundness score” would make a woman eligible to be a "bahu."
This sparked accusations of misogyny, which Chouhan responded to by posting another meme featuring a "damaad" and commenting, “Brahminical Patriarchy smashed? It's just a meme template. Grow up!”
He continued, “Who said this platform is only for women? If you assumed that, then that’s your own misogyny showing, not mine. We have men posting here too. Cheers!”
Chouhan later introduced a different site, RotiMeter.ai, explaining it was done for SEO purposes. He also shared his excitement, saying, "Thanks to multiple investors who reached out. Quickest money ever made."
