OnePlus is preparing to introduce its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, later this year. While the company has yet to announce an official launch date, a new leak has revealed what is claimed to be the phone’s complete specifications.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has shared details of the upcoming handset on Weibo, pointing to a BOE display, Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chipset, a 200-megapixel primary camera and a large 9,000mAh battery. The phone is expected to debut in China in the coming months, although its India availability remains uncertain.

OnePlus 16 display tipped to support 165Hz refresh rate

The OnePlus 16 is tipped to feature a BOE X4 display with a 165Hz system-wide refresh rate. The panel could reportedly support up to 185Hz specifically during gaming.

OnePlus has already teased a 165Hz display for the upcoming flagship, along with support for up to 165 frames per second in select games. The company has also highlighted its Wind Chaser Gaming Core and E-Sports Triple Chip technologies as part of the phone’s gaming-focused features.

The 165Hz refresh rate would carry forward one of the headline features of the OnePlus 15, which also introduced a 165Hz display.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, 200MP camera tipped

The OnePlus 16 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. The processor is tipped to use TSMC’s 2nm manufacturing process and could feature an octa-core CPU arranged in a 2+3+3 configuration, paired with an Adreno 850 GPU.

The phone is also expected to run ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.

For photography, the leaked specifications point to a triple rear camera setup. It could include a 200-megapixel primary sensor with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95-inch sensor.

9,000mAh battery, 100W charging

Battery capacity could be one of the biggest upgrades on the OnePlus 16. The phone is tipped to pack a 9,000mAh typical-capacity battery, with a rated capacity of 8,780mAh.

The leak says the handset could use a dual-cell battery and support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The battery would represent a significant increase over the OnePlus 15’s 7,300mAh capacity. However, some other reports have tipped different charging specifications, so the final configuration remains unconfirmed.

OnePlus 16 expected price in India

There is currently no official India price for the OnePlus 16. More importantly, the phone’s India launch itself is now uncertain. Recent reports claim OnePlus could skip the OnePlus 16 in India and instead use the OnePlus 16R as its flagship offering in the market.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in China around October, but OnePlus has not yet confirmed the launch date or the final specifications.
