New Delhi: Mumbai is among the global locations featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with the upcoming action game's campaign including Special Air Service (SAS) night raids in the Indian city.
The game's official social media account has shared the opening cutscene of the Mumbai level, offering players a glimpse of the city’s role in the latest instalment of the Call of Duty franchise. Mumbai features alongside conflict zones in Korea, New York and Paris in a campaign built around a widening international conflict.
The campaign's early access began on October 16 for players who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game. The full game is scheduled to launch on October 23.
Mumbai joins New York, Paris in Modern Warfare 4 campaign
The Mumbai missions feature SAS night raids, adding an Indian setting to a campaign that moves across several international locations.
According to the game's campaign description, players will encounter trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters combat in New York, high-speed chases in Paris and operations in Mumbai. The missions combine urban combat, stealth operations and large-scale military confrontations.
The Mumbai cutscene offers an early look at how the city fits into the campaign. Further details about the specific mission and its storyline have not been outlined in the material released alongside the announcement.
North Korean invasion drives the main story
Modern Warfare 4 features a 16-mission campaign centred on a full-scale North Korean invasion of South Korea.
Players take on the role of Private Park Hyun Jun, a young South Korean soldier experiencing live combat for the first time. Alongside his squad and joint US and South Korean Marine forces, Park fights through collapsing cities, entrenched positions and counteroffensives as they attempt to reclaim occupied territory.
The storyline follows the soldiers' struggle to survive the invasion while revealing the wider forces behind the conflict. The Korean theatre forms the central thread connecting the campaign's different locations and military operations.
Captain Price operates outside the system
Alongside Park's story, the campaign follows former British soldier John Price, who is operating outside the system after Task Force 141 was disbanded.
Price's pursuit of a powerful weapon draws him into a wider conflict involving former enemies and illicit operations. He forms an uneasy alliance with Valeria Garza as his mission intersects with the forces behind the invasion of Korea.
The campaign also features Mads Mikkelsen as The Archer, a major antagonist whose actions shape the unfolding conflict.
The story is presented as the concluding chapter of the Modern Warfare reboot saga, bringing together Price's storyline and the new Korean conflict.
