As Apple gears up for the iPhone 17 series launch later this year, new leaks have surfaced suggesting a bold design overhaul that may have many questioning if Apple is "desperate" to shake things up. According to CAD renders posted by leaker Majin Bu, the upcoming iPhone 17 models may be taking cues from Google’s Pixel design, particularly in their camera layouts.

The iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to feature a "horizontal, bar-shaped" camera bump, resembling the elongated camera bars found on recent Pixel devices. This design shift follows a growing trend in the industry, with more manufacturers moving towards rectangular camera setups for a sleek, modern look. 

The iPhone 17 Pro models are also reportedly set to adopt a "large horizontal matrix design" for their rear cameras, a significant departure from the traditional square design. This would align the Pro models more closely with the design language seen in Android competitors like the Pixel, further raising eyebrows.

Additionally, previous leaks obtained by Mac Rumours indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro could feature a new part-aluminium, part-glass rear design with a rectangular aluminium camera bump. This shift in materials and form is another move away from Apple's classic design, and many are wondering if the company is pushing for a drastic redesign to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive market.

With these changes, Apple seems to be following the trends set by Android manufacturers, possibly out of a need to refresh its iPhone lineup, which has seen only incremental changes in recent years.
