Apple is reportedly working on integrating cameras into future Apple Watch models to enable AI-driven Visual Intelligence features within the next two years. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the standard Apple Watch Series will feature cameras embedded within the display, while the Apple Watch Ultra will have a side-mounted camera positioned near the digital crown and button.

With these cameras, the Apple Watch could "see" its surroundings and leverage AI to provide contextual information. This aligns with Apple's broader vision of incorporating camera-based AI functionalities, similar to rumoured camera-equipped AirPods that may be in development.

Apple’s Visual Intelligence system debuted on the iPhone 16 series, allowing the camera to extract useful details from real-world objects, such as scanning an event flyer to add details to the calendar or identifying restaurant information from a signboard. If implemented in the Apple Watch, these capabilities could enhance hands-free interactions, making it a more powerful AI-driven wearable.

Currently, the latest Apple Watch models feature on-device Siri processing, a double-tap gesture, and enhanced health-tracking sensors. If cameras and AI functionalities are introduced in future models, the Apple Watch could evolve beyond a health and fitness companion into a smart assistant capable of real-time, visual-based interactions.
