Chennai: Team Tamil Nadu will represent India at the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) final, starting from today at the Lusail Sports Hall, Qatar

The head coach C V Sunny and player Pranav Prince are the Malayali presence in the team.

USA players James Anthony Farr and Brian Karion Halums are the guest players in the squad. 

The WASL Final 8 will see the teams in action under two groups, Tamil Nadu is placed in Group B which includes reigning two-time Gulf League champions Kuwait Club, Kazma SC and  Shahrdari Gorgan. 

Group A consists of back-to-back subzone champions Al Riyadi, defending champions Manama, Sagesse Sports Club, and BC Astana. 

Tamil Nadu will face Gulf League titlists Kuwait Club in their first match

The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, while the third and fourth-placed teams will be eliminated from the competition.

The winners of the semi-finals will then compete for the ultimate prize in the final.

The two finalists will earn spots in the inaugural Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) which will be played  between June 9-15, in Dubai.
