For millions of fans, Sanju Samson is the fearless batter who lit up the T20 World Cup 2026 with breathtaking sixes and match-winning knocks.

However, behind the roar of stadiums and the glitter of trophies lies a quieter, deeply personal story, one that began with a simple message sent late at night more than a decade ago.

The 11 PM message that changed everything

On the night of August 22, 2013, at exactly 11 pm, a young Sanju Samson typed a simple “Hi” on Facebook Messenger and sent it to a fellow student, Charulatha Ramesh.

At the time, both were studying at Mar Ivanios College in Thiruvananthapuram. Samson was already making waves in domestic cricket, but his life was far from the global fame he enjoys today.

That brief message began a conversation that slowly blossomed into something far deeper. What started as a college friendship gradually turned into a love story that would stand the test of time and the pressures of international cricket.

A love story that grew quietly

Unlike the bright lights of cricket stadiums, Samson and Charulatha’s relationship grew quietly, away from the spotlight.

For nearly five years, they remained close friends who supported each other through life’s ups and downs. As Samson’s cricket career grew, with IPL opportunities and the dream of wearing the Indian jersey, Charulatha remained a constant presence in his life.

A Chemistry graduate and Human Resources post-graduate, Charulatha chose to stay away from public attention, instead becoming Samson’s emotional anchor.

During the difficult phases of his career, when selection disappointments or inconsistent form tested his patience, she stood by him quietly, offering reassurance and encouragement.

A wedding built on love and respect

After years of friendship and understanding, the couple decided to take the next step. On December 22, 2018, Sanju Samson and Charulatha Ramesh tied the knot in a private ceremony in Kovalam, Kerala.

The wedding was held under the Special Marriage Act, bringing together two families from different faiths: Samson, a Christian, and Charulatha, a Hindu.

The ceremony was intimate, attended only by close friends and family, reflecting the couple’s preference for a life rooted in simplicity and privacy.

The strength behind the champion

Fast forward to 2026, and Samson is now one of the biggest heroes of Indian cricket. His Player of the Tournament performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, scoring 321 runs and smashing 24 sixes,  helped power India to another global title.

The fearless batting that thrilled fans across the world also had a quieter emotional story behind it.

During his recent homecoming celebrations in Kerala, Samson revealed how his wife often helped him stay strong during difficult moments.

He shared that Charulatha would show him fan-made videos and reels from supporters whenever he felt low about his performances. Those gestures, he admitted, often moved him to tears and reminded him of the love and faith people had in him.

From a simple Facebook “Hi” in 2013 to celebrating a World Cup triumph in 2026, the journey of Sanju Samson and Charulatha Ramesh is more than just a love story.

It is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful partnerships are not formed under stadium lights, but in quiet conversations, unwavering belief, and the small moments that help a dreamer keep going. And for Sanju Samson, that partnership may well be his greatest victory of all.
