Kochi: For 85-year-old Balanarayanan Moosath, seeing cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in front of him was a touching experience, but what made it extra special was their interaction during the Spice Coast Marathon 2024, which left him thrilled.

Recalling the moment, Moosath revealed that just as he completed the marathon, Sachin kneeled on the stage and asked him, “How old are you?” Overjoyed at the attention from his idol, Moosath proudly replied, “I’m 85 years old.” With a smile, Sachin exclaimed, “Wonderful,” and posed for a photo with Moosath.

“I never imagined Sachin would come down from the stage just for me,” Moosath recalled, still buzzing with excitement. “He asked about my whereabouts, and when I reached the front of the stage, he bent down and shook my hand again.”

Moosath’s participation in the marathon exemplified remarkable spirit and age-defying enthusiasm.

A retired registrar of the Kerala Police Housing Co-operative Society, Moosath maintains a healthy lifestyle, starting each day with a walk to the temple and taking another stroll in the evening. This year, he decided to join the marathon after hearing that Sachin would be flagging off the event.

Moosath took part in the 5km fun run, completing the course with the help of a walking stick. His energy inspired fellow runners, who encouraged him throughout the race. After finishing, Moosath was making his way past the stage when Sachin approached him.
