Overcoming regional challenges
The primary advantage of these indoor facilities is the ability to bypass the Northeast’s notoriously heavy monsoon seasons. Manipur Cricket Association Secretary, Lairenjam Geetranjan Singh, noted that players will no longer need to travel outside the state for training camps, as coaching can now continue uninterrupted year-round.
A growing powerhouse
The inauguration comes on the heels of a stellar 2025 season for Manipur cricket, which saw the state reach five BCCI domestic finals and secure two Under-19 titles. Notably, all representing players are homegrown local talent. Officials expressed confidence that this new infrastructure will act as a catalyst for both boys' and girls' cricket, ensuring the region remains a competitive force in Indian sports. (IANS)
