“I am worried about Onkholer’s mental health,” Tiwary had said in the video.

Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has expressed deep disappointment over the public controversy between boxing legend Mary Kom and her ex-husband Karung Onkholer Kom. In a video message that he later deleted, Tiwary reacted to Mary Kom’s remarks on Aap Ki Adalat, where she said, “Frankly speaking, he married me and lived entirely off my income. He did not earn even a single rupee himself.”
Although not directly involved in the matter, Tiwary emphasized the importance of emotional and practical support in an athlete’s career. “Having been a professional athlete myself, I understand how crucial a strong support system is. In Mary Kom’s journey, her husband played an important role,” he said. He recalled that Mary Kom had previously acknowledged how Onkholer supported her by managing the household, caring for their children, and enabling her training.
Tiwary strongly criticized airing such grievances publicly, warning of serious consequences. “Publicly shaming someone on national television after the relationship has already ended is deeply concerning. I am worried about his mental health,” he added. Highlighting that both partners contribute differently in relationships, he thanked his own wife and concluded, “With this message, I pay respect to all husbands and wives who stand by each other and serve as a strong support system in one another’s lives.”
The couple legally separated in December 2023. Mary Kom has alleged major financial losses, while Onkholer has denied all accusations. The issue continues to spark debate nationwide. (With inputs from Agencies)
