Glasgow: India’s 122-member contingent has wrapped up a highly successful campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, returning with a robust haul of 39 medals. India secured 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze medals, ultimately finishing fourth on the overall leaderboard behind Australia, England, and Canada.

The Glasgow 2026 sporting programme witnessed Indian athletes shining across multiple disciplines, but the nation's boxers proved to be the undisputed stars. Indian pugilists delivered an unprecedented performance, bringing home seven gold and three silver medals, thus forming the backbone of the country's medal rush. Weightlifting also provided a steady stream of success, yielding eight medals, which included a historic third successive Commonwealth Games gold for Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu.

On the track and field, India celebrated a monumental milestone. Distance runner Gulveer Singh etched his name into the history books by becoming the first Indian track and field athlete to win two individual medals in a single edition of the Games. The 28-year-old secured a bronze in the 5,000 metres on the concluding day, completing a historic double after previously winning a silver in the 10,000 metres.

Athletics yielded several other prominent honours, including multiple double podium finishes. In the men's triple jump, Praveen Chithravel secured silver, and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran took bronze. Furthermore, para-athletics delivered a historic moment when Sharmila Dhankar became India's first-ever Commonwealth Games gold medallist in para athletics, winning the women's F57 shot put. India's male para-athletes also secured a memorable one-two finish in the F57 shot put, with Soman Rana clinching gold and Shubham Juyal taking silver.

Judo contributed vital podium finishes to the tally as well, with athletes like Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey winning gold and silver, respectively, in their weight categories.
