Kerala athlete Anju Bobby George might have felt euphoric when Neeraj Chopra bagged silver medal in the World Athletics Championships on Sunday, 19 years after she won the bronze for long jump at the 2003 World Championships in Athletics in Paris. Olympian gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is the second person after Anju to win a prestigious medal in the World Championships.
The winner of the BBC lifetime achievement award for best athlete in India told a national daily after his historic win that Neeraj is the best Indian athlete of all times. She congratulated Neeraj Chopra on Sunday in a tweet, terming his achievement as a "magic moment". She teased him by saying, "welcome to the group..it was a long wait."
Neeraj also became India's first ever track and field athlete to take the silver medal in the World Championships.
