Kozhikode: A 15-member team of youngsters from AC Milan Academy in Kerala is preparing to participate in an international football tournament in Italy. Academy technical director Alberto Lacandela said in a press conference that the team would partake in the Torneo Internazionale "Città della Pace" Under-13 tournament this year as part of the academy's international exposure programme.

The kids will represent India in the tournament, where talents from around 30 countries will participate. Meanwhile, the kids will witness the Champions League quarter-finals between AC Milan and Napoli and will visit AC Milan Headquarters and Museum.

In November 2022, the Italian heavyweights established a grassroot-level programme in the state by launching a club named 'Milan Academy Kerala'. They also opened training centres in Kozhikode, Kochi and Malappuram.

The team of Muhammad Sinan, Ryan Subair, Alwin Paul, Muhammad Aiman, Siddharth Jeevan, Ashir Manikfan, Nivin T Nainan, Agney Chunkat, KM Dixit, Mehs Mavoor, PK Danish, Devang Kolappadan, VP Muhammad Shasil, Anfal and Omar Jaslal along with coaches Albert and Shebin Muhammad will visit Italy. The matches are on April 7, 8 and 9.
