Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman will travel to Spain on Wednesday to invite the Argentinian football team to Kerala. This comes after the All India Football Federation (AIFF) declined an invitation from the Argentine Football Association to play a friendly match in India last year.
Upon arriving in Madrid, Minister Abdurahiman, accompanied by the director and secretary of the sports department, will engage with Argentine football representatives. This visit follows the government's earlier promise to explore the possibility of hosting the World Cup-winning team in Kerala.
Earlier, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had declined Argentina's invitation to play a friendly match in India due to the high costs involved. In response, Kerala Sports Minister vowed to extend an invitation and welcome the 2022 World Cup team to Kerala.
