Kochi: Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC) on Monday announced the appointment of Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson as its brand ambassador. According to the media release, Sanju will “represent the club and its values on and off the field”.

The helming of the prominent cricketer, who hails from Thiruvananthapuram, as brand ambassador of the Indian Super League (ISL) football team is expected to woo enjoyers of both games in the state.

“The partnership will see a deep integration into all of the club’s grassroots activities, community initiatives and so much more, the release noted.

KBFC director Nikhil Bharadwaj said that the team is thrilled to welcome a person like Sanju who is a national icon.

Meanwhile, Sanju expressed his excitement at the appointment. “My father was a professional football player, football has always been a sport close to my heart. I am honoured to be the brand ambassador of Kerala Blasters FC. The club has done so much since its inception to bring back the glory of football to this state. In the process, they have built and cultivated one of the most loyal fanbases in the country. I can’t wait to watch a match at the Kaloor stadium with the fans and support the team,” he said.
