Cristiano Ronaldo scored a dramatic 97th-minute penalty, securing a 2-1 victory for Al-Nassr over Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.Ā

Ronaldo's penalty came after Robert Renan fouled Abdulrahman Ghareeb, marking his sixth goal of the season.

Al-Nassr initially took the lead in the 69th minute with a goal from Aymeric Laporte. However, Al-Shabab equalized in the 90th minute when Ali Alhassan scored an own goal. With this win, Al-Nassr's point tally now stands at 17.

Earlier this week, Lionel Messi equalledĀ Ronaldo's record of most hat-tricks for a national team during his side's FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers match against Bolivia, in which the defending WC champions recorded a thumping 6-0 win.

During the game, Messi struck in the 19th, 84th and 86th minute, and provided two assists.

Lautaro Martinez (43rd minute), Julian Alvarez (45+3rd minute) and Thiago Almada (69th minute) also registered their names on the scoresheet, keeping Argentina on the top of the table of South American qualifiers with seven wins, a draw and two losses, giving them 22 points.

Now, Messi andĀ RonaldoĀ both have 10 international hat-tricks and are the only players to achieve this feat for their national teams.
