Kolkata: Mohun Bagan Super Giant has appointed Spanish coach Sergio Lobera as their new head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season, replacing Jose Molina in a significant move aimed at turning around their campaign. Lobera, who will start training with the squad from November 30, brings a strong pedigree with ISL titles and Shield wins, along with coaching experience in FC Barcelona’s youth setup. Known for his attacking style and tactical discipline, the 47-year-old is tasked with maximising the talent in Mohun Bagan’s squad, including key players like Jamie Maclaren, Jason Cummings, and Vishal Kaith.

Lobera expressed immense pride and ambition in taking charge of Mohun Bagan SG, a club steeped in history and emotion. He emphasised building a team that plays with courage, identity, and a winning mentality, aiming to elevate the club to the pinnacle of Indian football. Having already made a mark with clubs like FC Goa and Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League, Lobera is expected to instil a high-tempo, possession-based approach to revive Mohun Bagan’s fortunes this season.
