Kolkata: Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Sporting Club Delhi marched into the quarterfinals of the 135th Durand Cup following decisive victories over their respective rivals on Monday.

In Kolkata, MBSG swept aside CISF Protectors 6-0 in a Group A encounter to secure their place in the last eight.

Sahal Abdul Samad led the charge, netting a first-half hat-trick in the 17th, 19th, and 37th minutes, while Manvir Singh (24th), Jamie Maclaren (68th), and Tekcham Abhishek Singh (73rd) also added to the scoreline.

The win ensured Mohun Bagan finished atop Group A with a maximum of nine points, while CISF Protectors departed the tournament without registering a point.

In Ranchi, SC Delhi dismantled Indian Air Force 7-1 at the Birsa Munda Stadium to progress to the knockout phase from Group C.

Having already secured quarterfinal qualification following victories in their opening two fixtures, Mohun Bagan demonstrated attacking intent from the start, though the CISF backline initially held firm.

The breakthrough arrived when Dejan Dražić picked out Tekcham with a superb pass from his own half. His initial strike took a deflection and fell to Liston Colaco, who set up Sahal for a simple finish.

Sahal doubled the lead shortly after, tapping in after Manvir Singh released Dražić down the right wing before the Serbian delivered an accurate cross.

Manvir subsequently made it 3-0, controlling Tekcham's curling cross before placing his shot past the keeper.

Sahal rounded off his hat-trick with an individual effort, gathering the ball near the halfway line, weaving past several defenders, and guiding a right-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Mohun Bagan dominated the opening period, holding 75 per cent of ball possession and entering the interval with a four-goal cushion.

Manager Panagiotis Dilimperis made four substitutions at half-time, yet the Mariners maintained control of the game. Manvir and Colaco both forced saves before Mohun Bagan added a fifth goal.

Sahal produced a no-look through-ball to play in substitute Maclaren, who finished between the goalkeeper's legs.

Tekcham capped off the scoring by driving the ball into the roof of the net after linking up with Liston.

CISF created late chances through Gaurab Das and Gurpal Singh, but Mohun Bagan keeper Syed Zahid Hussain preserved the clean sheet.

In Ranchi, the scorers for SC Delhi were Rodriguinho (11th), Juan Sebastian Pena (39th, 65th), Duvan Mina (55th), Lalrinliana Hnamte (63rd), Clarence Savio Fernandes (79th), and Richard Ndayishimiye (90+4).

Samuel K Vanlalpeka scored the solitary goal for Indian Air Force in the 50th minute.

The victory ensured SC Delhi finished their group campaign with three wins from three matches to collect nine points.

Indian Air Force remained third in Group C with three points from two fixtures and will conclude their group campaign against Jamshedpur FC on August 13.
