Mumbai: Prodigious batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been selected for India's 15-member 'A' squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka, scheduled for June 2026. The team, which will compete against the 'A' squads of Afghanistan and the host nation, will be captained by Tilak Varma, with Riyan Parag serving as vice-captain.

The inclusion of the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi comes on the heels of a transformative year. He first gained international attention during the 2025 IPL season after recording a remarkable 35-ball century against the Gujarat Titans. His momentum continued earlier this year as a vital member of India's victorious Under-19 World Cup team, punctuated by a commanding 175-run performance in the final against England. In the current IPL 2026 season, Sooryavanshi has maintained his prolific form, tallying 440 runs across 11 innings with a strike rate of 236.56 and a tournament-high 40 sixes.

The roster also includes several other standout performers from the current IPL season, such as Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Anshul Kamboj, and Suryansh Shedge.

The competition is set to open on June 9 with a match between Sri Lanka and India A. The tournament will follow a double round-robin structure, culminating in a final between the two highest-ranked teams on June 21. Following the white-ball segment in Dambulla, India A is scheduled to participate in two multi-day contests against Sri Lanka A in Galle; the roster for those red-ball fixtures will be disclosed at a future date.
