New Chandigarh: Smriti Mandhana’s sublime century and a disciplined bowling effort helped India women thrash Australia women by 102 runs in the second ODI at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, leveling the three-match series 1–1.

Opting to bat first, India posted 292 in 49.5 overs, with Smriti smashing a breathtaking 117 off 91 balls — her 12th ODI ton and the second fastest by an Indian batter in women’s ODIs. Deepti Sharma chipped in with 40 runs, while Darcie Brown (3-42) led the attack for Australia women.

In reply, Australia women never looked in control and were bundled out for 190 in 40.5 overs, suffering their heaviest ODI defeat in terms of runs. Annabel Sutherland top-scored with 45 and Ellyse Perry added 44, but the chase collapsed under pressure from India women’s bowlers.

Kranti Goud returned figures of 3-28, while Deepti Sharma (2-24) and Renuka Singh struck crucial blows. Radha Yadav and Arundhati Reddy also contributed, ensuring all six bowlers were among the wickets.

This result gave India women their first home ODI win over Australia women since 2007 in Chennai, ending the visitors’ 13-match winning streak in the format.
