Smriti Mandhana’s wedding with composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed after her father fell seriously unwell, her manager confirmed. The update comes hours after an ambulance was seen entering the venue, sparking concern.

The much-anticipated wedding of Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed after Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell seriously unwell.
The update was confirmed late Sunday by her manager, Tuhin Mishra, who requested privacy for the family during the difficult time.
The wedding, scheduled to take place in Sangli, Maharashtra, had drawn wide public interest over the past week, with fans and media closely following every pre-wedding detail.
Mandhana and Muchhal, who have been in a relationship since 2019, were in the midst of a series of intimate celebratory events, including sangeet, mehendi, and haldi ceremonies.
However, speculation about a serious family health situation began earlier in the day when an ambulance unexpectedly entered the wedding venue, briefly halting the ongoing preparations.
Eyewitnesses described a moment of visible concern among guests as the vehicle made its way inside the restricted area. Videos of the ambulance quickly spread across social media, prompting questions about whether the emergency involved a family member.
At the time, sources had indicated that a guest had suffered a medical emergency, but hours later, Mishra clarified that Mandhana’s father’s condition had deteriorated, leading the family to decide to postpone the ceremony entirely.
He did not provide details on the nature of the illness but confirmed that the situation required urgent medical attention and that the family was fully focused on his care.
“The wedding has been postponed indefinitely. Smriti’s father is unwell, and the family needs privacy at this moment,” Mishra said, urging fans and media outlets to refrain from speculation.
The news has led to an outpouring of support from the cricketing community, with players, colleagues, and fans posting messages of strength and solidarity.
Mandhana, vice-captain of the Indian women’s team and one of the most celebrated batters in the sport, has not issued a personal statement yet.
Meanwhile, both families have suspended all event-related activities. Vendors and planners working at the venue were informed Sunday afternoon that further instructions would follow only after the family reviews the situation.
While the wedding was expected to be one of the biggest celebrity events of the year, those close to the couple emphasised that the family’s well-being takes absolute priority. As of now, no new date has been discussed.
