Colombo: Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan was named on Sunday to replace injured Sai Sudharsan in India's Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on August 15.
The left-handed Sudharsan sustained a toe injury during the India A tour last month and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru.
The BCCI confirmed that Sudharsan has shown notable progress during his recovery, with its medical staff continuing to track his condition closely.
"The men's Selection Committee has named Sarfaraz Khan as a replacement for Sai Sudharsan for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka," the BCCI stated in a release.
"He will link up with the Indian squad in Colombo before the team travels to Galle for the first Test match, starting August 15, 2026."
The 28-year-old Sarfaraz has featured in six Tests for India, with his most recent appearance coming against New Zealand in Mumbai in 2024.
