Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala cricket team is set to embark on a tour to Oman, where they will play four limited overs matches against the ICC-ranked Oman national team. The tour, scheduled from May 20 to 27, is part of Oman’s preparations for an upcoming ICC tournament in the US. Kerala got this opportunity due to their good performance as runners-up in the Ranji Trophy. This will be the first time the Kerala team competes in a friendly match against an ICC-ranked national side.
The team’s preparatory camp has begun at the Krishnagiri Stadium in Wayanad under the leadership of head coach Amay Khurasiya. However, key players like Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby, and Vishnu Vinod, who are currently participating in the IPL, along with pace bowler Basil Thampi, who is recovering from an injury sustained during the Ranji season, will not take part in the tour.
Following the Oman series, Kerala will play a friendly match in Kashmir by the end of May. The team is also planning a tour to England during the monsoon season, where they will compete against Oman national teams. The team is looking for opportunities to compete against county teams in England.
